Bob Selby Illustration

Biography

I was born at a very early age and began drawing soon thereafter. For many years I enjoyed a career as a staff illustrator at the Providence Journal, where my assignments took me to such diverse places as the U.S. Supreme Court, homeless shelters, America’s Cup races and Guatemala. I won some awards (Society of Illustrators, Society of Newspaper Design, Associated Press, among others), I even received a Fulbright Grant to research the history of caricature in Spain.

Later I taught some college courses at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, the Rhode Island School of Design, and more recently, at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. Now I’m free lancing. My client list includes National Geographic Online, Builder, Book, Rhode Island Monthly and Vermont Life magazines, the U.S. Coast Guard, Eleventh Day productions (documentary films) and Renaissance Greetings. I live in Vermont where my wife, our dog and I enjoy the Green Mountain life.
